Summer Reading Challenge

The Covenant Preparatory School is pleased to announce the return of the Summer Reading Challenge.  After last year’s great success and participation, it is our desire that reading is, once again, an integral part of your child’s daily activity this summer. We hope that you will encourage your child to accept the challenge as he or she continues to grow and develop into a Covenant Knight reader who adheres to the wisdom of Paul when he wrote: Finally brother and sister, whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable and praiseworthy, think of the these things. (Philippians 4:8)

The format is the same as in years past with students reading books and providing a brief written summary. Students will select books from a grade appropriate list of titles that are engaging, exciting and reflective of our Classical Christian philosophy.  Please keep in mind that the Summer Challenge is designed to help students develop and strengthen their independent reading skills. All students participating in the Summer Challenge will be recognized at a special awards program when we return to school this fall.  Depending on how many goals they achieve, students will receive a bronze, silver or gold medal.

A hard copy of your child’s grade level reading list will be sent home with him/her before the end of school.

The program is completely optional.  However, we strongly encourage all students to participate in the Summer Reading Challenge Summer in order to help maintain their reading progress.
